On Saturday 6th July, RRT was very glad to support The Norfolk ‘Pier to Pier’ Challenge – a mammoth 32-mile trek from Great Yarmouth to Cromer Pier in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The team provided much needed refreshment pit stops and a midway burger meal along the Norfolk Coastal Path route.

In total, the day raised around £10,000 for this hugely worthy cause. Many congratulations to everyone who took part and to everyone who supported the participants on the day.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices

The East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) offer outstanding care and support for children and young people with life-threatening conditions. They support families across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. They are supported by their Royal Patron HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, as well as other prominent patrons and ambassadors, including Delia Smith and Ed Sheeran.

The team at EACH provide a wide range of invaluable support services, including:

  • Care at end of life.
  • Specialist symptom management support and advice.
  • Day care and overnight breaks, including accommodation for families
  • Emotional and wellbeing support, including counselling, art therapy and music therapy.
  • Occupational therapy and physiotherapy, including hydrotherapy.
  • Specialist play.
  • Family events.
  • Support groups.
  • Spiritual care.

For families accessing care and those who have been bereaved, EACH is a lifeline at an unimaginably difficult time. Their vital work relies on voluntary donations which makes up the majority of their income. They are currently working hard to raise £10 million to fund their new state of the art hospice in Norfolk.
