Raising Awareness: RRT Watford at DENS Sleepout
On November 23rd, RRT volunteers in Watford set up their red tent and BBQ to serve breakfast to participants of the DENS Hemel Sleepout. The team was there to support those who spent a cold night outdoors, raising funds and awareness for homelessness. Their presence aimed to bring warmth and encouragement to a meaningful cause.
DENS is a homeless charity based in Dacorum. It is dedicated to being the first point of contact for individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the area. DENS’s mission goes beyond providing a roof and a bed—it focuses on offering support that empowers people to take the next step in their lives. Through practical assistance, confidence-building, and skill development, DENS helps individuals progress toward securing and maintaining a stable home, enabling them to move forward with renewed hope and independence.
RRT volunteers served 200 bacon breakfast rolls, refreshments, and hot drinks to participants in the early morning of the DENS Hemel Sleepout, offering encouragement and support to those braving the cold for an important cause.
The DENS Hemel Sleepout was an important event, providing attendees with a glimpse into the challenges of those experiencing homelessness. It was inspiring to see individuals come together for such a vital cause, dedicating their time and effort to support and raise funds for the DENS charity. Their collective commitment highlighted the importance of community action in addressing homelessness and making a difference in the lives of those in need.
