Working with people in crisis is at the heart of what we do at the Rapid Relief Team (RRT), and in 2019 we launched an innovative initiative, RRT Food Boxes, to provide immediate relief when it is needed most.
After wanting to do more for families and individuals affected by domestic violence, RRT designed the Food Box to act as an emergency food bank for people and families in need and now supports people from low socio-economic backgrounds and those in crisis.
The RRT Food Box comes in two different sizes and contains a variety of non-perishable, long-life food.
Launched in the UK in 2020, the RRT Food Box was designed to address the simple but crucial need for food for families and individuals fleeing domestic violence. The Recipients of this product have not expanded to people below the poverty line, emergency-housed victims, the elderly, and individuals with health impairments.
The Food Box concept originated in New Zealand in 2018 and gained global traction in 2020, in all RRT regions across the globe during the pandemic. The RRT Food Box gifts emergency food supplies to provide immediate relief for people in crisis.
