RRT Serves Hot Meals for Cool Nights at Vinnies Community Sleepout

Rapid Relief Team (RRT) volunteers have served more than 200 meals to support St Vincent de Paul Society at three of its Community Sleepout events across NSW.

The Vinnies Community Sleepout brings together locals to experience a night of sleeping rough, with the purpose of raising money for homelessness services.

RRT provided hot meals and refreshments, including soup, burgers and coffee, to participants at Community Sleepouts in Greater Sydney, Armidale and Orange.

Armidale Team Leader Doug Scott said RRT was pleased to once again support St Vincent de Paul and the vital work it does to support people experiencing homelessness.

“Rapid Relief Team is honoured to work with St Vincent de Paul Society by providing catering for the Vinnies Community Sleepouts,” said Doug.

“They are a wonderful opportunity for locals to come together, while raising awareness of the realities of sleeping rough and fundraising for an important cause.

“The money raised by these events stays local to help locals, which is fantastic. Well done Vinnies!”

RRT volunteers from Kellyville, Orange and Armidale were involved in the support.

As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren beliefs, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community.

Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it has expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
