Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has thrown its support behind A Good Kitchen, a community meal service that looks after people experiencing homelessness and hardship in Swan Hill, Victoria.
A Good Kitchen is a St Vincent de Paul initiative, and every Tuesday its volunteers serve a free two-course meal to anyone sleeping rough or facing financial difficulties.
RRT Local Team Leader Bill Dowell said A Good Kitchen had asked RRT to provide this week’s community meal, with RRT volunteers cooking 60 barbecue meals.
“Rapid Relief Team volunteers were delighted to be asked to support A Good Kitchen, which is a wonderful community organisation that does so much for people in need in Swan Hill,” said Bill.
“Helping other charities and community groups is a major part of RRT’s mission, and by working together we can achieve so much more for those in need.
“We have enjoyed working with A Good Kitchen to ensure people experiencing hardship can have a warm, nutritious meal in a safe and welcoming environment.
“Well done to everyone that makes A Good Kitchen such a great service.”
As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community. These efforts reflect the Plymouth Brethren values, which emphasise service, generosity and practical care for people in need.
Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
