Rapid Relief Team (RRT) was out in force for the second time supporting Australia’s Biggest Working Bee, one of many events organised by Fencing for Fires which repairs and re-builds fire-affected fences.

The event took place in the VIC Tintaldra area, and saw over 25 laborer’s and tradies from across NSW & VIC build and repair fences on Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th of October.

To keep the helpers fueled, RRT volunteers from Albury set up station at the Tintaldra Hotel, serving up lunch– all while the AFL grand final was live streamed in the background! RRT volunteers dedicated their AFL long weekend to serve lunch and dinner to the local community who were banding together for the worthy cause.

Founder of Fencing for Fires, Jamie Wolf shared his appreciation by saying “The Rapid Relief Team’s been up here catering for the event and it’s been amazing. Military operation, and it’s much appreciated from all the guys on the ground. It’s all about helping the people from the 2020 bushfires and you know the guys and the Rapid Relief Team just knock it out the ballpark.”

John Moody, Local Team Leader (LTL) for RRT Albury, said RRT Albury volunteers were pleased to support such an important cause.

“After the devastating bush fires earlier this year, followed by the COVID pandemic, the Tintaldra community needed our support now more than ever,” he said.

“The majority of the public may not be aware that many NSW communities are still struggling with the after-effects of last summer’s bushfires – and we hope our humble contribution goes a ways to alleviating some of that continued stress.

“Our army of volunteers operate from the heart to serve people in need and that is exactly what this weekend’s Fencing for Fire’s Working Bee was all about.” he said.

Every day in some small way, RRT volunteers offer a helping hand to those in need. We feel fortunate to play a part in helping the Upper Murray farming community recover from the bushfires that ravaged through earlier in the year by repairing and re-building fire affected fences.
