On Saturday 14th November 2015, the 11th Upstream Challenge was held by the Upstream Foundation. The Upstream Foundation raises money for the following Foundation Partners:

  • Summer Foundation
  • Isabella & Marcus (Paediatric Brainstream Foundation Fund)
  • Fare Share

The Upstream Challenge consists of two courses of different length which both end at Donvale Christian College:

  • The first, a 50km route starting at Gosch’s Paddock in the Melbourne and Olympic Park precinct, and winding along the scenic banks of the Yarra River
  • The second, a shorter 20km route beginning at Yarra Flats

The first participants left at around 7am, with the first completing the 50km course in just over 3 ½ hours – an excellent effort!

Participants each raise over $200 which is donated to a Foundation Partner of their choice – together the Upstream Foundation has raised a combined amount of over $246,000 with further donations expected during the remainder of November to take the total past $300,000!

Participants were greeted at the finish line by the welcome sight of the Rapid Relief Team who provided a lunch of hamburgers and sausages as well as bottled water to help replenish the many thirsty runners.

Their efforts were very well received – almost 800 burgers and several hundred sausages were consumed over the course of the day!
