AU – RRT Melbourne support the 11th Upstream Challenge

On Saturday 14th November 2015, the 11th Upstream Challenge was held by the Upstream Foundation. The Upstream Foundation raises money for the following Foundation Partners:
- Summer Foundation
- Isabella & Marcus (Paediatric Brainstream Foundation Fund)
- Fare Share
The Upstream Challenge consists of two courses of different length which both end at Donvale Christian College:
- The first, a 50km route starting at Gosch’s Paddock in the Melbourne and Olympic Park precinct, and winding along the scenic banks of the Yarra River
- The second, a shorter 20km route beginning at Yarra Flats
The first participants left at around 7am, with the first completing the 50km course in just over 3 ½ hours – an excellent effort!
Participants each raise over $200 which is donated to a Foundation Partner of their choice – together the Upstream Foundation has raised a combined amount of over $246,000 with further donations expected during the remainder of November to take the total past $300,000!
Participants were greeted at the finish line by the welcome sight of the Rapid Relief Team who provided a lunch of hamburgers and sausages as well as bottled water to help replenish the many thirsty runners.
Their efforts were very well received – almost 800 burgers and several hundred sausages were consumed over the course of the day!
