AU – RRT Ermington Supports Parramatta Council Celebrate National Youth Week.

RRT Ermington is committed to support Parramatta Council with National Youth Week Events at the Granville Recreation Centre.
To quote Parramatta Lord Mayor Mr John Chedid: “Youth Week provides an opportunity to celebrate our younger generation and recognise the contribution young people make to better our local community.”

RRT sees the youths as the potential for the community and would like to lend our hand in support of the young people making our local community a safer and a better place to enjoy life. Parramatta Council have arranged events for after school all next week and RRT Ermington has offered to provide free meals through out the week.
Whats On
- Monday 7th – SPORTS FEST
- A series of different sports set up at the centre to encourage participation in exercise and sports supporting a healthy generation.
- 3pm to 5pm
- Tuesday 8th – COOK OFF
- Healthy Cooking lesson and family dining setup, creating a family atmosphere over food.
- 3pm to 5pm
- Wednesday 9th – MC BATTLEGROUND
- Our Voice, Our Impact – creating a space where young people can express their views and opinions through the mic!
- 3pm to 5pm
- Thursday 10th – GYC VIBES
- Jamming session with drums, guitar, keyboard and the mic with tutoring sessions available.
- 3pm to 5pm
- GYC OUTREACH
- An opportunity to take services outside to the front of the centre, joining with other agencies including a trailer with xbox games for the young people to play, games, food and just an opportunity to share with the young people of the area.
- 5pm to 7pm
- Friday 11th – YOUTH FORUM
- Inviting several students from years 9-10 of local high schools to attend a youth forum. The purpose of the forum is to give an opportunity for representatives of young people in the Parramatta Local Government Area to share their views on the opportunities or challenges facing young people and how Council and local community organisations could support young people in the area through services, programs and activities.

- Saturday 12th – ROC the BLOC YOUTH and FAMILY FESTIVAL
- This youth and community festival is one where young people are encouraged to perform and share with the community their gifts and talents with the message of “Our Voice Our Impact”. The festival will also showcase a dance group which was created weeks leading up to Youth Week. Their performance will be around our voice our impact and will be made up of the diverse cultures and traditions in this local area.The festival will be held outside the front of the Granville Youth and Community Recreation Centre and will feature a huge stage with performances from the young people and cultural communities as well as weekly hirers from the centre (aikido and capoeira). We will also be having amusement rides, information stalls, food stalls and photo booths.The festival is set to host many new and emerging young musicians and dance crews from the local area and will also include a diverse array of cultural foods, traditions and community.
