Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has once again supported KalAbility as it brought students from across Perth together for an inclusive sporting carnival that celebrated all abilities and achievements.
Education Support schools from the North Metro region were invited to participate in the KalAbility athletics day, and RRT was on hand to provide the food and support the fun.
Local Team Leader Ashley Fawkes said KalAbility does important work to ensure all students feel included and empowered.
“Rapid Relief Team has been supporting KalAbility at its athletic events for some time and it is a wonderful initiative,” said Ashley.
“Our 12 volunteers served 350 meals at the North Metro sporting carnival to students, teachers and organisers, keeping them fuelled and energised so they could focus on the fun and participation.
“These events bring great joy to RRT volunteers, who value the opportunity to support students, families and schools while helping create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.”
KalAbility sports program brings together Education Support schools, giving students with disabilities the opportunity to participate in inclusive events promoting teamwork, confidence and community connection.
As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community. These efforts reflect the Plymouth Brethren values, which emphasise inclusion, generosity and supporting communities in meaningful ways.
Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
