RRT Boronia had the privilege of serving a hot BBQ dinner to 85 emergency services personnel ahead of their SES training night in Knox. The evening wasn’t just about a good meal, it was an opportunity to recognise the incredible first responders who dedicate countless hours to protecting the community, often in highly challenging conditions.

SES volunteers play a vital role across Victoria, responding to storms, floods, road crashes, search and rescue operations, and a wide range of emergencies. Their work requires consistent, hands-on training to ensure teams are ready for whatever comes next. For many, these sessions take place after a long day at work, making a hearty, freshly cooked meal even more appreciated.

“It’s an honour to support the SES. These volunteers give so much of their time and energy for the safety of others, and if we can help fuel them before a big training night, that’s the least we can do. Building strong relationships with our local emergency services means we can respond together more effectively when the community needs us most.”

By being onsite, RRT not only provided dinner but also strengthened its connection with the Knox SES unit and surrounding emergency services. These relationships are crucial; they help ensure future emergency relief efforts are coordinated, efficient, and based on teamwork long before a disaster strikes.

Nights like this highlight the importance of training and the unwavering dedication of the SES crews who step up in times of crisis. For RRT volunteers, being able to support these frontline heroes, even in a small way, reflects our ongoing commitment to compassion in action.
