RRT Food Boxes Feature On NZ Police ‘Ride Along’ Series
New Zealand Police recently featured RRT Food Boxes on their popular Ride Along series, showcasing how officers are using the boxes to support people in need.
In the episode, officers deliver RRT Food Boxes to community members going through difficult times.
Speaking during the segment, one officer reflected on the importance of the initiative: “It’s just a little beacon of light in their day.”
Rapid Relief Team (RRT) launched the Food Box programme in 2018 to provide emergency food supplies for people and families in crisis. Each box contains a variety of non-perishable, long-life food items designed to offer immediate support when it is needed most. Since 2020, more than 89,000 RRT Food Boxes have been distributed throughout New Zealand.
The initiative began to support families and individuals affected by domestic harm and has since expanded to assist people from disadvantaged backgrounds and those facing unexpected hardship.
RRT is delighted to support New Zealand Police in their community-focused work. By providing Food Boxes to local stations, officers can offer practical assistance during welfare checks and callouts.
As one officer shared in the episode: “I think it’s important because it connects us to the community”.
RRT thanks New Zealand Police for their local community outreach and for highlighting the difference Food Boxes can make for people in need.
