RRT UK supports evacuees after La Soufriere Eruption

La Soufriere, an active stratovolcano on the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent, began erupting on 9th April, the first time in 42 years. The island nation has a population of around 110,000 and so far over 20,000 people have been evacuated from the nearby villages.
The Team in the UK wanted to provide support and humanitarian relief to those affected by the erupting volcano and assist the most vulnerable with basic needs. The RRT hygiene pack was the perfect solution to send our love and compassion across the seas to ST Vincent and Grenadines, and the Teams packed and donated 1500 sets, which set sail via Help SVG UK last Thursday.

The RRT Hygiene Packs, which come in a wash bag contain vital personal care commodities such as shampoo, bath gel, comb, deodorant, hand sanitiser, cotton buds, toothbrush and toothpaste which are much needed necessities for those experiencing hardships as a result of the eruption.
Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves told reporters in a press conference “The lives and livelihoods of our people have been terribly affected, we are in a dire situation, frankly.”
Our thoughts are with the families and individuals who have been affected, and evacuated, by the eruption of La Soufriere.
