About 60 RRT volunteers from across Scotland came together in Perth to support the Scottish Recovery Consortium (SRC) with their annual Scottish Recovery Walk.

The Scottish Recovery Walk is a commemoration walk event and this year was to celebrate and show gratitude to all the amazing recovery organisations and recovery communities who have supported people in recovery over the last 12 months throughout the pandemic. The other purpose is as a remembrance of those who have lost their lives and those affected by it, over the last 12 months 3334 have sadly passed away, in Scotland alone.

The event was a massive success and the biggest Recovery Scotland Walk ever with over 2000 walkers in attendance! As the walker set off on their circuit of Perth, RRT volunteers provided water bottles at a strategic point for all the walkers. Then upon completing the circuit the walker were provided with a full RRT BBQ meal and refreshments, as 3 local bands put on a live performance.

With the current drugs health crisis in Scotland, MSP Angela Constance the Minister for Drug Policy and MSP Maree Todd, Minister for Public Health, Women’s Health and Sport, were present to do a speech to share their plans to support Recoverists in the future and address the challenges faced.
