Run for All is a charity event where youngsters taking part in the runs are encouraged to raise a small amount of money for a local cause or for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. Proceeds from the event will also be supporting St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice, Grimsby.
RRT arrived in two teams at the Yarborough Leisure Centre, Lincoln. With the strong northerly wind cutting across the field they soon got stuck in moving water supplies and goodie bags to the finish line where the RRT had set up a shelter. The wind was so strong it actually blew over a section of the metal fencing which was quickly rectified, along with setting out temporary fencing and setting up rubbish bins. Help was soon needed on welcoming and guiding runners to the start line and facilities,
There were two races running simultaneously – the minis (ages 9-11) and juniors (11-14) – with around 350 youngsters involved all in. RRT were able to provide a team to help at the front of the centre, cheering on the runners and guiding the minis back towards the finish line at the split point where the juniors carried on to do an extra section.
Work was done to keep visitors out of the way of the runners near the critical area of heading up to the finish line. The 3 winners from each race had their trophies and goodie bags presented before being proudly photographed to celebrate their achievements!
RRT members were responsible for controlling the return of the children to their parents in a protective way supporting the organisers in this important role!
What an excellent event for the youth of Lincoln to be getting involved in and giving it their all!!
RRT were very glad to help this event which supports their motto of supporting local communities and received the following comment from one of the event organizers: ‘pass on a huge thank you to your team they have been a massive help today… I don’t know what we would have done without you’ . RRT are looking forward to their next proactive event on the calendar – watch this space!
