UK – Ipswich Hospital Charity Bike Ride, Suffolk
The Ipswich Hospital Charity is an excellent charity supporting the Ipswich Hospital to provide the highest quality care. The charity provide those ‘extras’ – some small, some large – above and beyond the scope of the NHS budget, that really make a difference.
On 26-28th June this year, the charity organised a bike ride to get out and connect with the community by cycling through every village and location that shares a name with a hospital ward. The ride spanned three days, through 67 villages and covering 200 miles of the Suffolk countryside. Seventy cyclists took part in the 3 day challenge, and they were joined by 50 more riders on the 50-mile Sunday route.
The Ipswich & Aldeburgh Rapid Relief Teams were privileged to get involved in supporting this event through the following activities:
- Manning 2x refreshments stations on the route
- Putting up and taking down route signage
- Marshalling
- Broom wagon (this involved following the riders in a vehicle carrying a paramedic and bike mechanic)
The support of the RRT was extremely well received and we are looking forward to working with the charity on future events. For more details, click on the video below:
