The Junior tough Guy and Gals event was attended this year with a larger number of keen participants than last year. Once again this wonderful event raises funding for the Cure Kids organization and assists with their passion to provide a cure to many diseases and illnesses that effect our children.

Heading towards the race line

There were approximately 1400 children with their loyal parents who arrived from nearby schools to participate in the fun mid-winter event. The weather consisted of steady rain which continually got heavier making the grounds a sludgy mud pool.

These children braved the weather and fought through mud and sludge having a great time. On completion of the race the rain became torrential and forced the organizers to cancel the prize giving session.

The RRT team were there cooking up a sausage sizzle to feed hungry cold kids and also raise money for Cure Kids with 100% takings given directly to them on the day.

Warm sausages for a cold wet day!

The children raced through onsite showers and left for home. The whole event was over in a couple of hours, a great effort by everyone to come out and participate on a day which recorded the heaviest rainfall in Auckland!

Rain and mud puddles!

Comment on the Cure Kids website about RRT……

“We’re excited to have the amazing RRT on board at this years’ events. They’ll be holding sausage sizzles with all proceeds going to Cure Kids, so you know where to go when you’re hungry after the race”
