AU – RRT was present for the opening of The Ronald McDonald House Orange

After a decade of planning, fundraising and building, the house is now complete, functioning and is providing the greatly needed accommodation and support to families of children who are unwell.
Cutting the cake The opening ceremonyThe untiring work of volunteers, community groups and other supporters in the Orange region to construct the facility, has been excellent. Funds are still needed to maintain and run the Ronald McDonald House and to fund the future expansion.
Ronald McDonald House Orange is one of the largest houses to be built in regional Australia and it will not only cater for families from the Western Local Health District but for families from three quarters of the state who have a child who is receiving physical or mental health treatment.
The FacilityThe first stage of the house includes all the main infrastructure such as communal living areas, play rooms, computer and learning areas and rooms for eight families.
This is the 15th facility which has been set up by the charity. As many as 270 families will have shelter in a Ronald McDonald House in Australia each night and this year the Houses will provide a home away from home for over 6,000 families.
