AU – RRT Melbourne and Mothers and Babies Morning Tea 6th June 2016

Monday 6th June marked the official opening of the new Lighthouse Foundation Vicky Vidor Home for Mothers and Babies. This is the second purpose built home for homeless mothers and their babies in Melbourne, built and donated by Property Industry Foundation and Henley Homes on land donated by the Moreland City Council.
For over 25 years, Lighthouse has been helping young people break free from the cycle of homelessness by providing a home and sense of family with a vision of ending youth homelessness altogether.
RRT were privileged to help out at this momentous occasion by providing a delicious morning tea of gourmet sandwiches and cakes for the many officials and dignitaries who were present at this happy event.
This purpose built home has been designed and built with the needs of the young mothers and babies in mind, with plenty of room to learn and grow. It is a lovely 6-bedroom home that will house up to four mothers and their babies with two live in carers, providing a safe, loving and nurturing environment for as long as it is needed.
Everything in the house was new and sparkling, with all the furnishing being donated by many extraordinary companies and individuals with the hope of making a difference in the life of the young women and their babies. The generosity of so many people is remarkable and shows what can be done towards providing a haven for those in need.
After the cutting of the ribbon by Acting Mayor Cr Lita Gillies and Vicki Vidor OAM and speeches by many of the donors the team provided the guests with refreshments whilst they toured the home or expressed their thanks to the remarkable people that made this dream a reality. A safe, loving family environment, ready for the first mother to move in that week.
