As the long winter drags on and the log burners continue to burn, so the risk of thatch fires continues to increase. Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service experienced an unprecedented number of thatch fires in a very busy two week period from the end of March into early April. Ready to help at a moment’s notice, and at any time day or night is the local Rapid Relief Team and a recent challenge for the Andover based charity team was in Upton on Sunday 7th April.

This was the Andover RRT teams second outing to support the local fire brigade in 4 days as they provided refreshements to crews from Andover, Whitchurch, Hungerford, Ludgershall, Newbury, Overton, Penton Mewsey, Romsey, Winchester
