Local volunteers from RRT in Newcastle have joined forces with Fortem Australia to acknowledge and thank NSW Ambulance staff for all they’ve done and continue to do in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

As a small token of appreciation, RRT volunteers served hot meals, refreshments and barista made coffee to more than 200 hard-working NSW Ambulance staff and other frontline workers.

RRT Local Team Leader for Newcastle, Doug Paynter, said today’s event was initiated by Fortem to express the community’s appreciation for local healthcare workers.

“The pandemic has posed many challenges for Australians, particularly for our healthcare workers,’ Doug said.

“We’re here today to thank the unsung heroes of this pandemic, the frontline healthcare workers, who have put the needs of others above their own and have worked day in, day out to keep our community safe.

“The pandemic isn’t over yet, and it continues to place immense pressure on healthcare workers across Australia so we are humbled to be here today to do our small bit to say thanks.

“RRT volunteers are inspired by community spirit and the gift of giving, and in serving a delicious meal to the NSW Ambulance staff today, we are expressing our deepest appreciation and gratitude for their patience, care and support.”
