Each year, the Special Children’s Christmas Party brings joy, colour, and festive cheer to thousands of children and their families across Australia, and RRT volunteers from across the country supported this much-loved initiative once again.

The Children’s Christmas Party is a free, invitation-only event for children aged 0–12 living with disabilities, serious illness, or complex needs. Designed to be safe, inclusive and uplifting, the parties give children the opportunity to simply be kids, surrounded by fun, entertainment, and celebration.

Held in multiple locations nationwide, each event features rides, activities, interactive displays, stage shows, petting zoos and one of the most anticipated highlights of the day, Santa’s Toy Room. Stocked with thousands of new toys, the Toy Room allows every child to choose gifts to take home, creating lasting memories well beyond the event itself.

RRT volunteers were on hand across the country to support these celebrations by providing freshly prepared meals for children, families and event volunteers. Across all Children’s Christmas Party events, RRT volunteers served almost 16,000 meals, helping keep energy levels high and ensuring families could enjoy the day without worry.

For RRT volunteers, the Children’s Christmas Party is a meaningful opportunity to give back and support families during a time that can often be challenging. Seeing the joy on children’s faces and knowing they are part of a day filled with laughter, inclusion and care is what makes these events so special.

The Children’s Christmas Party has been running for more than 40 years, working closely with partner charities, schools and service providers to ensure children who might otherwise miss out can experience the magic of Christmas. Through generous donations and community support, the events remain completely free for families.
