The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) is saying thanks to the State Emergency Service (SES) in honour of Wear Orange Wednesday, by providing delicious meals to SES volunteers at special appreciation events.
Taking place during National Volunteer Week, WOW Day is dedicated to showing appreciation to the SES volunteers for the support they give to support the community during emergencies.
RRT is bringing along the barbeques to provide meals at six events for WOW Day, with teams from Nambour, Cowra, Kalamunda, Gympie, Condobolin and Meander Valley getting involved.
Local Team Leader Daniel Hungerford said Nambour volunteers were delighted to be able to serve 66 meals to the SES Tewantin Unit at their WOW Day event.
“Rapid Relief Team will always be ready to respond to a call for support from the SES,” said Daniel.
“Whether it is during a flood, storm or some other natural disaster, RRT will be there to keep the men and women of the SES well-fed and energised while they do the important work of protecting their communities.
“This WOW Day, during National Volunteer Week, we recognise the hard-working volunteers of the SES, and RRT was pleased to provide hot, fresh and delicious Signature Burgers and other refreshments to these events.”
As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community.
Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
