RRT Continues Backing Northern Rescue with Life-Saving Equipment

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) is delighted to continue supporting Northern Rescue, contributing $40,573 towards two new sets of night vision goggles that will help crews carry out life-saving missions after dark.
The specialised equipment significantly improves visibility during night operations, helping pilots and paramedics safely access remote landing sites and respond to emergencies when every minute counts.
RRT Whangārei Team Leader Cameron Whitehouse said supporting organisations like Northern Rescue reflects RRT’s commitment to serving communities in times of need.
“Northern Rescue crews are called out in some of the most challenging circumstances, often when people need urgent care the most, so it is vital that they have the right equipment to operate safely and effectively.”
"Our donation was made possible by the generous support of our donors, who, alongside our volunteers, allow RRT to give back to local communities in Northland and across the country."

RRT has supported Northern Rescue over many years, including raising approximately $20,000 through community barbeques across the region. This latest contribution continues that longstanding commitment to helping ensure rescue crews have the equipment they need to save lives.
Northern Rescue crews say the new night vision goggles make a significant difference when responding to incidents in rural and remote locations, allowing them to identify hazards such as trees and power lines and safely land in places that may otherwise be inaccessible.
With Northland crews flying around 1,100 missions each year, including approximately one-third at night, the new equipment will play a vital role in keeping both patients and crews safe.
