Walking for a Cause: RRT Torbay Supports Rowcroft Hospice
On October 12th, the local Rapid Relief Team (RRT) Torbay came together to support Rowcroft Hospice’s fundraising efforts and honour the dedicated staff during a special fundraising walk.
Rowcroft Hospice supports adults in South Devon with life-limiting illnesses. As a charitable organisation, the hospice significantly depends on the generosity of the local community for its funding. Rowcroft provides compassionate care and end-of-life services, ensuring patients and their families receive support in their preferred environment.
The event was not just a walk but a unique experience. It featured the Rowcroft Fire and Lego Walk fundraiser, an interactive and exciting challenge. Participants over the age of 12 were invited to walk barefoot over glowing embers while younger children took part in the Lego walk. This thrilling event, organised by Firewalk Events, brought families and friends together to support the hospice, raising essential funds through sponsorship to care for patients and their loved ones.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed various fun activities, including a captivating fire-eating performance by Higher Beings Circus, family games, and a bouncy castle. The RRT volunteers supported the hospice by setting up a BBQ, serving up to 120 burgers and refreshing drinks for all participants.
Attendees gathered during the BBQ, enjoying lively conversations and cultivating a strong sense of community. It was a day filled with fun and support as everyone united to uplift one another. The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) was proud to stand in solidarity with Rowcroft Hospice, with volunteers working tirelessly at the grill while engaging with local community members and hospice staff.
