Scotland’s Recovery Community Gathers in Grangemouth to Compete, Connect and Celebrate
People in recovery from across Scotland have come together at the Scottish Recovery Olympics for a day of sport, solidarity and celebration, with charity the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) providing hot meals to all participants throughout the event.
Organised by Recovery Scotland, the games bring together groups in recovery from addiction and other life challenges, uniting communities from across the country in an atmosphere built on shared strength and mutual support. The Recovery Olympics is not just a sporting event, it is a celebration of the courage it takes to choose a different path, and of what people can achieve when they do.
RRT volunteers were on hand throughout the day, serving hot burger meals to participants as they competed and connected. For an event that is fundamentally about community, the presence of volunteers committed to the same values of care and compassion, was a great contribution to the day.
12 RRT volunteers served 359 meals across the event at Forthbank Stadium, Stirling.
"The Scottish Recovery Olympics is a truly inspiring event, seeing people from across Scotland come together to celebrate their recovery and support one another is a powerful reminder of what community can achieve. We were glad to be here, to serve a hot meal and to play even a small part in a day that means so much to so many people. It was a privilege to support Recovery Scotland and everyone who took part."
