RRT Taunton Supports Mental Health Awareness Day – Hinkley Point
In recognition of Mental Health Week, the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) recently joined the night shift at the Hinkley Point C construction site, offering a moment of connection and comfort to over 1,000 workers during the overnight hours. The team served up more than 1,000 coffees and 1,500 doughnuts—small gestures with a big message: your wellbeing matters, no matter the hour.
Night shift workers often miss out on traditional wellness initiatives simply due to the timing of their shifts. This event aimed to bridge that gap, showing appreciation for their vital contribution and acknowledging that mental health support should be accessible around the clock.
Mental health remains a pressing issue across the construction industry. Tragically, statistics show that two construction workers take their lives every working day. While awareness is growing, the need for practical, on-the-ground support remains urgent.
Over the past three years, RRT has partnered with major construction sites throughout the UK to help meet that need—supporting over 15,000 workers with morale-boosting initiatives and fostering a more connected, supportive site culture.
At Hinkley Point C, the recent night shift event was warmly received by both workers and site managers. Volunteers brought more than just refreshments—they offered friendly conversation, encouragement, and a reminder that support is available.
Construction sites interested in exploring how RRT can support their teams can get in touch or register their interest here.
"While Mental Health Week is a great reminder to talk openly about mental wellbeing, our commitment to the construction industry goes well beyond this one week. We are honoured to support construction workers, because everyone deserves to be seen and supported."
