RRT Swindon Support the A417 Missing Link Construction Site on Time to Talk Day
On National Time to Talk Day, 6th February, Kier Transportation organised a Mental Health Day at the A417 Missing Link Construction site in Gloucestershire. This event was held to raise awareness of the mental health challenges construction workers face and provide a platform for open discussions to reduce stigma. Mental health remains a significant, yet often unacknowledged, issue in the construction industry, with reports showing that two construction workers tragically take their own lives every day.
During this event, Mates in Mind offered mental health and wellbeing support by sharing personal experiences, encouraging those who may be struggling to seek help.
Volunteers from the RRT Swindon & Gloucester teams supported these efforts by providing 400 coffees and 400 doughnuts during the Mental Health Stand-Up Day. RRT has supported multiple events nationwide so far, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere where workers can openly discuss their mental health challenges.
“We are very privileged today to have RRT with us providing coffee and doughnuts to all the teams onsite. We’ve got Mates in Mind with us today, too, to help us talk about and reflect on mental health. It’s a good opportunity for us to get together and to stop and take a break from the working day and have a chat. We are all under pressure, but let’s have a cup of coffee and a doughnut and talk about it.”
