RRT Sutton Supports Surrey Fire & Rescue at Leatherhead Recycling Centre Fire
On Thursday 16th October, a fire broke out at the Grundon Waste Recycling Facility in Leatherhead, prompting a swift response from Surrey Fire & Rescue. Crews worked through the night to contain the blaze and protect the surrounding area.
As firefighters tackled the incident, RRT Sutton volunteers mobilised to support the teams on site. Arriving with hot pizza and drinks, the team provided much-needed refreshment and encouragement to those working in demanding conditions.
“It was humbling to support the firefighters as they worked through the night to bring the blaze under control" “Their resilience and focus in such intense conditions was remarkable, and we were grateful to offer a hot meal and a moment of relief during a long and challenging operation.”
