RRT Supports ‘Run for Ryan’ 2026 at Chatelherault Country Park

Posted: March 24, 2026

Now in its second year, the ‘Run for Ryan’ event brought hundreds of people together at Chatelherault Country Park to celebrate community spirit and honour the memory of Ryan McCabe, a much‑loved father of three who tragically passed away in 2024. This year’s event saw around 300 runners take on the 10km race, joined by 100 young people aged 10–14 in the 5km youth run, with many more participating virtually across the world.

Run for Ryan continues to shine a light on Ryan’s legacy of generosity and support for others, raising vital funds for charities close to his heart, including Marie Curie, My Name’s Doddie Foundation, Young Minds, and Action for Children. The atmosphere on the day was warm and uplifting, with runners sharing stories, offering encouragement, and coming together as a community in Ryan’s honour.

A team of 12 RRT Glasgow volunteers were on site for seven hours, serving over 350 hot meals – including RRT’s signature burgers and bacon rolls – to support participants as they completed their challenge. Many runners expressed gratitude after crossing the finish line, with Graham, who knows Ryan’s family, describing it as “a really great event” and Ross noting that volunteers were doing an “amazing job” lifting people up after the run.

“It was a privilege to support such a meaningful event in our community. Run for Ryan is a fantastic way to bring people together while raising funds for important causes."“As a charity dedicated to putting compassion into action, our volunteers were delighted to serve meals to all the participants and seeing them all come together in Ryan’s memory was truly touching. We’re always keen to support events like this that not only honour a much-loved member of the community but also make a real difference to the lives of others through vital fundraising.”
