RRT Supports Doddie’s Triple Crown Challenge Across the Four Nations

Posted: March 24, 2026

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) was honoured to support Doddie’s Triple Crown, a four nation endurance challenge inspired by Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir, raising vital funds and awareness for motor neurone disease (MND). The route spanned England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, symbolically linking the home nations of rugby while uniting communities in support of MND research and advocacy.

As the challenge progressed, RRT teams across the UK and Ireland provided welfare support to participants, offering hot meals, refreshments, and encouragement along the route.

The challenge reached Wales via Abertillery on the 12th March, where RRT Cardiff supported participants at Abertillery Rugby Club. Volunteers served 450 hot burger meals between 11:00 and 13:00, helping to fuel the teams as they tackled the Welsh section of the route. The event brought the community together in support of the cause and in admiration of the determination of those taking part.

"Our volunteers are honoured to play a role in supporting Doddie’s Triple Crown. It has been inspiring to see so many people come together across all four nations to honour Doddie Weir’s legacy and raise awareness for MND.”

Dwayne Marsh

RRT Cardiff Local Team Leader

As the route concluded in Ireland on 13th March, RRT Warrenpoint were on hand to provide 500 hot meals and drinks to participants from 19:30 during the final stretch, offering steady support just as other RRT team have throughout the challenge.
