RRT Chesterfield Support Holmewood Litter Pick

Posted: February 16, 2026

Holmewood once again saw a strong show of community spirit as residents joined forces for a large‑scale litter‑picking day across local streets and green spaces. The event was delivered in partnership with Chesterfield Litter Pickers, led by Lee Brassington, alongside the Friends of the Five Pits Trail and Heath & Holmewood Parish Council. Volunteers braved cold and wet weather to make a visible impact on the area, gathering substantial amounts of rubbish throughout the morning.

Building on last year’s success, the community’s efforts resulted in a remarkable clean‑up, with three trailers full of waste, plus additional skip loads collected with support from the teams on the ground.

“We took three trailers full with the help of the RRT team. We filled an eight foot skip and half a big 12 foot skip. We also got at least 70 bags of rubbish and lots of fly tip.”

RRT Chesterfield was grateful to contribute by providing 65 meals to keep volunteers fuelled as they worked to improve their neighbourhood.

“It was inspiring to see so many people give their time to improve their neighbourhood. We were glad to play a small part in supporting their efforts and to stand alongside a community that clearly cares deeply about its environment.”
