Recycling for a Cause: Ipswich Volunteers Support Hospice
On January 9th, local Rapid Relief Team (RRT) volunteers from Ipswich came together to support St. Elizabeth Hospice and East Anglian Children’s Hospice during their Tree-Cycling event. This initiative was organised to raise funds for St. Elizabeth Hospice. Participants simply registered their Christmas tree for collection by volunteers in exchange for a small donation to the hospice.
St Elizabeth Hospice volunteers collected Christmas trees from participants’ homes, recycling them by chipping them into biofuel. Some trees were also repurposed for use at Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park in Suffolk, a location offering animal encounters, outdoor activities, and family fun. The park features diverse animals, a farm shop, dining options, and event spaces, making it a perfect destination for relaxation and adventure.
The donations raised through this event help fund essential hospice services, including calls to their 24/7 helpline for support, advice, and referrals; physiotherapy sessions for patients; bereavement counselling with trained specialists; and community visits by hospice professionals to support patients during the winter period.
St. Elizabeth Hospice plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals facing progressive and life-threatening illnesses.
RRT Volunteers came to support the hospice by providing participants with 200 grab-bag meals.
