Rapid Relief Team Volunteers Support Police Scotland over Commonwealth Games 2026
Over eleven days, Police Scotland officers worked long shifts across Glasgow to keep athletes, officials and spectators safe throughout the Commonwealth Games. Officers maintained a constant presence around venues and throughout the city, ensuring the event ran safely for everyone involved.
To support those officers throughout the Games, RRT volunteers were on site from the first day to the last. Hot meals, snack packs and accommodation packs were provided across the duration, offering practical welfare support to crews working extended shifts in service of the event.
By the close of the Games, 123 RRT volunteers had given 769 hours on site – serving 5,470 meals and 7,500 snack packs alongside 250 accommodation packs to those keeping the event safe.

It was a real privilege to be on site and to offer something practical to people who were working incredibly long hours to make the event possible for everyone else."
