Gillingham Volunteers Serve Meals at International Women’s Day Community Event in Gravesend
RRT Gillingham celebrated International Women’s Day in Gravesend by serving meals at a community event organised by the Asian Single Parents Network (ASPN) in partnership with Kent Police’s Community Liaison team.
The event, held at St George’s Church Hall in Gravesend, consisted of a day full of inspiring talks and positivity, giving women a forum to interact and celebrate their achievements in recognition of this key awareness day. Attendees heard from a range of speakers who addressed topics such as women’s empowerment, personal development, and community support.
Officers from Kent Police were also present and spoke about women’s safety issues and raised awareness of domestic abuse, offering resources and information to empower women and promote wellbeing. The event aimed to foster open discussions on important issues affecting women and to provide practical support to those in need.
To further boost spirits, lunch was provided by the RRT, with volunteers serving over 100 freshly prepared burger meals to the women attending the event. The lunch was a highlight of the day, offering attendees a chance to relax and connect over the break.

It was our privilege to serve hot meals and be part of a day dedicated to empowering and celebrating women in the community. “The event was a great success, with attendees expressing their gratitude for the support and resources provided. At the RRT, we know the power of care and compassion, and it’s amazing to see what can be achieved when local organisations come together to support those in our communities.”
