RRT Chippenham Supports Wiltshire Search & Rescue’s Emergency Preparedness Exercise
On January 18th, volunteers from the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) Chippenham teamed up with Wiltshire Search & Rescue for their WILSARE Exercise Day.
The event, organised by Wiltshire Search & Rescue, was designed to test how well the team could handle unexpected, large-scale incidents. It involved support from mountain and lowland rescue teams, along with other voluntary groups. The exercise gave everyone a chance to practice procedures and build confidence, making sure they’re ready and comfortable when it’s time to step up in an emergency.
Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) is a volunteer-based team dedicated to locating vulnerable and missing individuals across Wiltshire and nearby areas. With over 100 trained members, the team provides specialist search support to emergency services. They are trained to UK Lowland Rescue National Standards, ensuring they meet the same high standards as Mountain Rescue and the Coastguard.
Local volunteers from the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) Chippenham supported the organisation by grilling 120 burger meals, including veggie burger options, and providing refreshments to keep the teams fueled during their exercise. RRT is glad to support such dedicated teams who work tirelessly to keep the community safe.
