Abseiling for a Cause: RRT Joins MTW Charity to Support NHS Fundraising Efforts
On Saturday, October 19th, volunteers from the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) in Tunbridge Wells supported a fundraising event organised by the MTW Charity at Maidstone and Tunbridge Hospital. As part of their contribution, RRT served 200 burger meals and refreshments to hospital staff and attendees.
The MTW Charity, dedicated to supporting the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, is crucial in improving patient care by funding enhanced services and providing additional equipment for both Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
This event aimed to raise vital funds to support NHS staff and hospital services, ensuring access to better equipment and improved patient care for the local community. Around 100 participants, including NHS staff and family members, participated in an abseiling fundraiser. RRT volunteers from Tunbridge Wells lent their support by grilling burgers and serving refreshments, helping to keep everyone energised. Notable attendees included senior executives and staff from the NHS Trust, the local mayor, and community members, all gathered to show their support.
The event allowed participants to take a well-deserved break, enjoy a meal, and connect with others.
Claire Ashby expressed her gratitude to the RRT team: “A big thank you to the amazing RRT team for keeping our abseilers fed and hydrated today. The feedback on the burgers has been incredible! We’re so grateful for their support in helping us raise funds for our charity. Thank you so much, RRT.”
Nancy Warne, Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, also shared her appreciation: “I’m here today to support this amazing abseiling event, with 100 people abseiling down six stories of Tunbridge Hospital to raise money for the hospital trust. The amazing community atmosphere created by the Rapid Relief Team, serving free burgers to everyone!”
RRT volunteers took time out of their weekend to support the NHS, showing their appreciation for the essential work done by healthcare staff. RRT extends its heartfelt thanks to all the local volunteers for their dedication and generosity.
