Charity Marks 999 Day Events Across England by Showcasing Community Spirit and Serving Meals to Attendees

Posted: June 24, 2026

Volunteers from charity the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) were out at 999 Day events in Fareham and Weston-Super-Mare on Saturday 20th June, celebrating the vital role of the emergency services and serving hot meals to members of the public attending the events.

In Fareham, the annual 999 Day returned to West Street from 10am until 4pm, giving families the opportunity to meet local emergency service personnel and see their vehicles up close. Exhibitors included Police, Fire Service, South Central Ambulance Service, RNLI, Hampshire Search and Rescue, and Coastguard.

In Weston-Super-Mare, the Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day took place on the Beach Lawns on the seafront from 10am — an event bringing together armed forces and emergency service displays, live music, funfair rides, and a local food market for families of all ages.

At both events, RRT volunteers served 450 burger meals in total, with 200 served by 13 volunteers in Fareham and the remaining 250 in Weston-Super-Mare by 8 volunteers, welcoming members of the public and supporting the community atmosphere at both locations.

Saturday’s events marked the seventh 999 Day that RRT has supported across the UK in the last five years, reflecting the charity’s long-standing commitment to standing alongside the emergency services and the communities that celebrate their work.

“999 Days are always brilliant events to support. They bring communities together to celebrate the incredible work of the emergency services - people who dedicate their lives to keeping others safe, often in incredibly demanding circumstances.Being at both Fareham and Weston-Super-Mare gave us the chance to show who we are and what we do, and to serve a warm meal to families enjoying the day. We were honoured to be part of events that shine a spotlight on our emergency services, and we look forward to continuing to support 999 Days across the country.”
