RRT Launches National Police Appreciation Week to Recognise the Dedication of Frontline Officers
The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) will host an appreciation week to recognise the tireless work of police officers to protect the public and keep communities safe.
The charity is partnering with the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) to deliver a programme of activity from Monday 20th April to Friday 24th April that will directly reach upto 28,000 police officers across England and Wales.
The appreciation week will see a total of 265 welfare events take place over five days, with RRT volunteers visiting police stations to provide refreshments for officers and thank police officers for their service.
The week aims to shine a light on the vital role police officers play in safeguarding communities, while highlighting the importance of supporting officer wellbeing and morale.
The RRT is calling on the public to take a moment during Police Appreciation Week to recognise the dedication of police officers in their communities and show appreciation for the vital work they do to keep the public safe.
It will be largest scale event ever delivered by the RRT which has more than 10 years’ experience providing practical support to emergency services and frontline organisations across the UK.
The RRT will be working closely with police forces and the NPCC to ensure the events fit within operational duty while offering officers a chance to pause, connect, reflect and feel appreciated for the work they do to keep communities safe.
The Police Appreciation Week follows the charity’s A&E Appreciation Week last year, and underscores the RRT’s commitment to recognising frontline workers for their critical role on the frontlines of both healthcare and public safety.
The RRT, which is made up of volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, is dedicated to putting compassion into action and has worked closely with police forces across the UK over the last decade.
“Police officers across the UK work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. They often do so in the most difficult circumstances, under intense pressure and public scrutiny.
“Police Appreciation Week is an opportunity to take a step back, recognise their efforts on the frontline, and thank them for their commitment and hard work in protecting the public.”
“Supporting officer wellbeing and morale is crucial to ensuring police forces can continue serving communities effectively. As a charity committed to supporting the emergency services, we are proud to work alongside the National Police Chiefs’ Council to deliver this nationwide initiative and support thousands of officers across the country.”

“Policing is full of incredible public-spirited individuals, and it can be an extremely fulfilling profession where officers, staff and volunteers can make a genuine difference to their communities.
“However, working within policing often means being faced with some of society’s most difficult problems. This can take its toll – with stressful, fast-paced situations and repeat exposure to trauma affecting our workforce in many different ways.”
“Simple gestures such as hot meal, a good cup of coffee and a friendly face can make a big difference to our day – which is why we are so grateful for the work of the Rapid Relief Team, not only in providing refreshments to our workforces across the country, but also shining a light on the vital work they do each and every single day.”
