Very Special Kids Annual Fair

The Very Special Kids Charity cares for children with life-threatening conditions by providing a children’s hospice and professional family support services. It is the only children’s hospice in Victoria, and they offer families access to planned and emergency respite, as well as end-of-life care. The hospice is committed to providing 24-hour specialist nursing care for affected kids in a warm and welcoming environment, and has substantial associated running costs – more than $7 million each year.
A cross-section of the community came to support the eventCommunity support plays a massive role in generating these funds and the VSK charity often holds fundraising events to facilitate this support.
The ‘Very Special Kids Fair’ was designed for children with serious illnesses and their familiesOn Saturday 21 November 2015, the ‘Very Special Kids Fair’ was held on the beautiful grounds of VSK Malvern. A fun day out for the whole family – with events of all kinds to enjoy! Premium wine stalls for the parents, live shows from the popular Peppa Pig for the younger ones, and gift stalls, toy sales, food & drink, football clinic, bungy trampolines etc. for everyone in-between!
Peppa Pig was one of the VIP visitors!Keen to support such an excellent cause, the RRT provided a dedicated and enthusiastic team to staff 2 ventures; The BBQ Stall, selling premium egg & bacon rolls and sausages, and the Mobile Coffee Cart, selling top quality, Barista made coffee.
The RRT BBQ StallDespite the weather at times introducing tricky scenarios to adjust to, the stalls were an outstanding success – demonstrating an impressive power-to-weight ratio! The 2 RRT Stalls combined sold approx. 670 meals, 815 hot drinks and 470 cool drinks! It was an outstanding achievement by all standards, which raised in excess of $5,000 for the Very Special Kids Charity.
The RRT Coffee StallComments from fair attendees expressed appreciation of the RRT’s support for VSK, one remarking; “this is absolutely the most organised BBQ set up I have ever seen!”
Further positive feedback came from the Stonington Council Health Inspector – George, commenting that RRT’s level of dedication to meticulously filling out all required documentation was “over the top!”
A huge congratulations to the VSK Charity from 30 RRT Volunteers who were there –it was a great day for all!
