On Saturday May 14th, a group of Minneapolis RRT volunteers gathered at the Lake Harriet Pavilion near downtown Minneapolis to support the annual Be The Match® 5K Walk & Run event. This event is one of several that RRT supports for Be The Match® across America. The Be The Match Events raise critically needed funds to help patients with blood cancers such as leukaemia overcome financial barriers in addition to helping fund live-saving research.

The RRT volunteers arrived early to assist with event set up including road barriers, signage, seating, audio, and distribution of supplies for the day. During the event, the volunteers helped coordinate the different races, distribute water to the racers, and provide enthusiastic encouragement and support to the 100s of participators, before concluding the day with the dismantling of all the event equipment.

It was truly an inspiring event for the RRT team as they witnessed teams representing patients, family members running for their loved ones, cancer survivors, and the enthusiastically-run “Tot Trot” for children! With over 1,600 participants and nearly $200,000 raised, this was a satisfying and successful day for all.
