Danny Crowley is the manager at Leonard Stocks centre in Torquay which is run by the Shekinah Mission for homeless people in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.  It has 24 rooms and has staff manning the centre 24 hours per day.  RRT got in contact with Danny at the centre to find ways to support him and he suggested that providing a hot breakfast on a Thursday morning would be well received by the homeless and rough sleepers that the centre cares for.

So on Thursday 11th February 2016 a team of 5 RRT supporters set up in the kitchen to make a start!  They cooked a full English breakfast in a roll, consisting of egg, sausage and bacon along with baked beans, hash browns and sauces along with hot drinks!  Serving from 8am to 10am, 25 persons – both homeless and rough sleepers received a great start to their day!  RRT also packed up lunch packs of bacon and sausage rolls along with water for them to take with them which were very gratefully received.

The response was overwhelming and the homeless and rough sleepers were appreciative of what RRT provided.

The residents commented that “they were so happy and felt really privileged to have been treated so well” and the staff really appreciated the support.  RRT were made very welcome and asked to come back again soon!
