As one of the UK’s oldest charities, Hannah’s has been enriching the lives of children and young people for more than 200 years. They are dedicated to empowering children, young people and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, providing them with life-changing opportunities and advocating their needs, with the aim of making disability incidental.

Working across two sites in Devon – at Ivybridge, about 11 miles from Plymouth and at Seale-Hayne on the outskirts of Newton Abbot – Hannah’s provides learning, care, support and real choice to children and adults with a range of disabilities. A dedicated and highly trained team of staff help students and visitors, at both sites to grow and learn with confidence and freedom.

One of their main fundraising events is the Christmas fayre. Boasting over 90 specialty stalls selling the likes of crafts, hand painted ceramics, cards, jewelry, homeware, textiles, toys, art, food produce, and an area dedicated to local crafters.

More than 3,500 festive shoppers braved the wind and rain to visit Hannah’s popular Christmas Fayre at Seale-Hayne this year.

The Rapid Relief Team helped to serve festive refreshments throughout the day as well as carrying out other key duties, support work, marshaling and car parking.  They also assisted in the packing up and clear up operation at the end of the event.

RRT have had colleagues assisted by Hannah’s in the past and have a long allegiance with the charity.  It became clear that RRT supporting would add to the value of the charity at this large event by saving them having to pay for temporary staff.

RRT provided 30 staff over the 2 day fayre and worked closely alongside Hannah’s staff to support them.  Hannah’s staff greatly appreciated the support given and made comments on the day such as; “Thanks for coming to help.  You wouldn’t believe what a difference you guys have made; it really has helped us so much and makes all the difference to have extra hands around”.

RRT were glad to support a worthy charity in the community at what has proved a successful event, and wish them all the best in their ongoing efforts.
