NZ – Napier NZME Special Children’s Extravaganza.
On Saturday the 18th of July the Napier NZME Special Children’s Extravaganza was held at the Pettigrew.Green Arena in Taradale.
Nearly 700 kids & their parents & care givers arrived from Taupo in the North to Dannivirke in the South. All were ready for a day of fun & games energised by lots of fruit, sausages & bread, chocolate milk & water!
RRT was on site with 2 RRT trailers which are set up with BBQs which churned out sausages & onions by the ton! A lot of this was kindly donated by local & national business, we served up 1050 sausages, 52 loaves bread, 5 kg onions & 850 water bottles!
Our Team of 40+ people pitched in from word go, multi-tasking on bouncy castles, giving out toys, food & drinks, games & rides! What fun!
It was a very humbling experience to help these kids; for many this is a day they look forward to more than Christmas. A lot of us felt like crying & laughing at the same time!
Great to see smiles on the kids’ faces despite their disabilities or circumstances. Made the day well worth while!
The RRT Team look forward to helping out again next year.
