RRT Adelaide had the opportunity on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st March 2015 to provide food and drinks over two days, working with a shoe manufacturing company, Rossi Boots, to raise money for a very worthy cause, the Hutt St Centre.

Hutt St Centre is a safe place of hope and opportunity, providing essential and professional services to meet the needs of homeless and vulnerable people in the inner city suburbs of Adelaide. Their work is to confront the causes and consequences of homelessness by preventing it at the source, addressing it when it occurs, and by reducing its reoccurrence. Each year Hutt St Centre serves around 50,000 meals, and also offers social work and support services to nearly 2,000 people.

This event was hosted by South Australian-based international footwear manufacturer, Rossi Boots who had a massive clearance sale over the two days, with proceeds from each boot sold going to the Hutt St Centre. This was viewed as a huge success.

The RRT saw this event as a chance to offer support and sympathy to the people in these situations of homelessness.  The members of Hutt St Centre, who the RRT were in close communication with, were overwhelmed at the generosity of the RRT and their eagerness to offer their assistance.

Over the two days, cold drinks and 120 sausage sizzles and 100 hamburgers were cooked and sold at the carpark sale, with all proceeds being collected by the Hutt Street Centre. As Rossi Boots were hosting this event, all their factory staff came along to show the support of their allegiance with Hutt St Centre by buying lunch.

We believe this event was an enormous achievement in fulfilling our mission statement; ‘To serve people with care & compassion in times of need’ and look forward to helping others in similar situations, in the very near future.
