AU – RRT of Castlemaine Supports the annual Run-the-Maine Charity Event

On Friday 27th September 2019, The Rapid Relief Team of Castlemaine supported the annual Run-the-Maine event as a major sponsor.

Since 2009 Run The Maine has provided healthy pursuits for participants of all ages and abilities

This community event raises much needed funds for our local hospital, Castlemaine Health. Over the last 10 years, RTM has donated almost $140,000.00 which the volunteer committee is very proud of. We look forward to adding to this in future events which will benefit all members of our community.

This year there were 3 races consisting of a 5 kilometre and a 10 kilometre in Castlemaine and a 21-kilometre half marathon from Maldon to Castlemaine.

A unique ride on Maldon iconic steam train was treated to the half-marathon contenders to transport them to their starting point in Maldon.

RRT partnered with the RTM team to help with set up and pack down, marshalling, refreshment stations, barista coffee and many other duties throughout the day.

It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all attendees, and great to see all walks of life come together for one goal and enjoy the day to its fullest whilst raising money for the Castlemaine Hospital.

Run the Maine finished up with a record number of 708 runners, with donations of around $23k plus going to the palliative care area of Castlemaine Health.

RRT is looking forward to supporting this well “run” event in the future.
