On Thursday, 1st October 2015, Wagga Wagga City Council, in country New South Wales, once again hosted their annual Little Big Day Out event showcasing their services. This free community event was packed with activities for children aged 2-12 years and was hosted in the Civic Centre Precinct. The event finished at midday, but with such beautiful weather, many wished it continued well into the afternoon.

Setup started at 7 o’clock ready for a 9 o’clock opening The day was well attended with over 5000 coming to the event

With so many little children all with beaming smiles, the Council proved again they had the right formula to make this day a success. It’s clear the water balls from the local Oasis Aquatic Centre were the most popular activity along with the performances by Heidi Hoops, Benny B and Tina Green. Check out the video of their gymnastic skills and tricks!

There were many things to see and do by all Many stopped at the RRT setup for refreshments

Children could design their own playground, buy fairy floss, ice cream or icy cold slushies and join in the Amazing Planning Permit Pursuit Competition for their chance to win a prize at the conclusion of the event.

Activities RRT Water was handed out for free

Wagga’s RRT were on hand to provide sausages in bread and drinks for the children and their parents. The revenue from the sales of food and drink was 100% donated to the children’s ward in the new local hospital. A fun and family focused morning, over 3500 people attended and the RRT raised over $1400! This was welcomed and warmly received by Pamela Rawle from the paediatric ward.

All proceeds were given to the local hospital’s paediatric unit

The RRT were kept busy the whole morning. With over 1000 sausages and 50 loaves of bread consumed it was clear the food was appreciated by everyone.

A cheque of $1,400 was very happily received by the representative of the new Children’s ward

In a fitting conclusion, it’s going to happen again – The Wagga Wagga City Council have already asked RRT back next year. Karly Pieper, the event coordinator, emailed afterwards to say, “Thank YOU so much for participating in our event! We were all in awe at how much of a well-oiled ship you have, and we would absolutely welcome you back to our next Little Big Day Out event!” RRT Wagga Wagga are delighted at this and look forward to being of assistance to the community again.
