Convoy for Kids Goulburn run two iconic annual events in Goulburn NSW. Their primary event is in November when hundreds of trucks from all across the nation create a mammoth convoy through the streets with the day culminating in a fundraising event. Their other annual event is the November Convoy for Kids Charitable Golf Day, where big hearted golfers from far and wide descend on the Goulburn fairways to hit some brilliant approach shots and easy putts to raise funds for sick and disadvantaged kids in the community.

Sick and disadvantaged kids in the local community are the beneficiaries of the great work that Convoy for Kids do. Funds raised by the charity are distributed on an ‘as needs’ basis to kids and their families to support them through the tough times. Many know first-hand how a severely ill child can create severe financial strain on the family budget.

This year Convoy for Kids president Bryan Webb, and Secretary Bob Kirk asked RRT for some help in providing refreshments and food for their Charitable Golf Day. RRT were delighted to make a contribution to this very worthy cause.

Undeterred by the early fog and mist, RRT ensured that the golfers were well fed, so that they could keep on swinging their irons and woods throughout the day to raise several thousand dollars.

As well as providing teas, coffees and light refreshments throughout the day, the RRT also cooked dinner for the attendees, who numbered approximately 100. The lunch was served between 12:00pm-1:30pm and consisted of sausages (kindly donated by a local butcher), steak, bread and salad.

Convoy for Kids were thrilled with the outcome of their day and the assistance of RRT, Secretary Bob Kirk said that “this will enable Convoy for Kids to continue their support for kids from local families”. In their letter of thanks they also suggested that the RRT can assist again in their next event, to be held in November. Goulburn’s RRT is very much looking forward to this possibility!
