Organisations came together to raise funds and awareness for Mental Health Services and Support

Mental Health Week is held in October every year and is to promote social and emotional wellbeing to the community, encouraging people to maximise their health potential, enhancing the coping capacity of communities, families, individuals and increasing mental health recovery.

On Saturday 3rd October the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) in Burnie was very happy to have the opportunity to support a Family Fun Day organised by Anglicare, for Mental Health Week. The event was to raise awareness within Burnie and the surrounding communities, about mental health issues.

Burnie Children enjoyed the Community Day with all its kid-oriented activities!

A number of other organisations came from across Tasmania to support the event, including Baptcare, GKR Karate, Extreme Entertainment and Bunnings.  The day was specifically designed to give families a day of relaxation and fun, but also to reach out, encourage and direct help to those with mental health issues.

The Burnie RRT supported the event by providing food and drinks

RRT was responsible to provide refreshments through the day, donating sausages in bread, sweet muffins and drinks which were greatly appreciated by everyone.  Close to 150 patrons came together to enjoy the day out and share their experiences with one another.

Thanks Burnie!
