It is the community support that makes the iconic Snowy Hydro SouthCare lifesaving air ambulance service what it is today. The Snowy Hydro SouthCare 2GN Radiothon was organised and facilitated by RRT and sponsored by the Goulburn business community to raise funds and awareness of the great contribution that this excellent lifesaving service makes to our community right here in Goulburn.

Since 1998 the chopper has completed approx 6000 lifesaving missions, and last financial year completed 509 missions. It costs approx $5,800.00 an hour for the chopper to attend a mission. Its amazing just how many people right here in the Goulburn community have experienced first-hand the best level of care that is available anywhere in aerial lifesaving services.

Starting at 9.00am, the 2GN Radiothon event got off to a great start with supporters coming in early with their cheque books, credit cards and cash to make their generous donations to this outstanding rescue service. Along with the donations came the stories of the many lives saved by the chopper.

With the RRT Team busy on the BBQ and barista coffee bar, the 2GN radio jocks were equally busy throughout the morning fielding support from past patients, and anyone in the community who wished to tell their story about the chopper, Meanwhile the Snowy Hydro phones ran hot with supporters from as far away as New Zealand phoning in their donations!

In just 3 short hours an incredible and exceptionally generous $42,000.00 was raised for the chopper, a true testimony to the great work that has been done for the community over the years.

As Chris Kimball, CEO of Snowy Hydro SouthCare said:

“RRT is amazing, you guys are just genius. We’ve had some massive donations, including $10,000.00 from one donor, and that’s the single biggest donation that we have received here in my time as CEO of this organisation”
