Eight Epic Days Supporting Wandering Warriors & Pollie Pedal

RRT has spent eight days supporting Pollie Pedal, a charity bike ride through regional Queensland raising funds to care for veterans and their families.

Pollie Pedal is raising funds for Wandering Warriors, a charity that supports Special Forces veterans as they transition back into civilian life.

RRT volunteers from Toowoomba, Ipswich and Warwick served a total of 600 meals to the 28 cyclists and support crews across the eight days.

RRT Director Rod Martin said RRT was pleased to support Wandering Warriors and Pollie Pedal for another year.

“RRT is with the riders all the way, providing free meals and refreshments to keep them going on their epic ride,” said Rod.

“We are honoured to support this important cause, raising money to care for those who put their lives on the line for their country.

“Veterans deserve our respect and gratitude, and RRT thanks them for their service and sacrifice.”

Wandering Warriors CEO Quentin Masson thanked RRT for providing the fuel to keep the pedals pushing.

“Pollie Pedal would not be possible without the support of the Rapid Relief Team taking care of our riders, veterans, volunteers and support crew,” said Quentin.

“Every morning RRT volunteers are up and ready to fuel the riders, providing freshly cooked bacon and egg rolls and other breakfast options.

“More than once the riders have joked that if it wasn’t for the RRT volunteers turning up with the coffee, Pollie Pedal would likely come to an abrupt end!”

Since Pollie Pedal was founded in 1998 by former Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Opposition Leader Angus Taylor, it has raised more than $7 million for charitable causes.

As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren faith, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community.

Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it has expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
